Kittery Art Association Show “Our Town”

The Kittery Art Association is presenting an all member show “Our Town,” which runs from July 22 to August 13. The opening reception is Sunday, July 23, from 4 – 6. Admission is free. The show will feature works depicting the town of Kittery and Kittery Point, which includes Pepperrell Cove, Fort Foster, Fort McClary, Seapoint Beach, views of the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, and picturesque houses and gardens. Artist Peter Moak has allowed KAA to use his landscape of Fort McClary for our postcard, come to the gallery and see the original!

The Spotlight Artist for “Our Town” is BJ Glanville, a Kittery resident. Her monoprints, printed on paper and fabric, often incorporate a layering of both. Her textile designs have been influenced by her childhood on the Virgin Islands, where she was introduced to silk screen printing by one of the early pioneers, Jim Tillett. The textures, pattern and color of the Caribbean still infuse her artwork. BJ earned her BFA in Textile Design from the Rhode Island School of Design.

Kittery Art Association’s gallery at 8 Coleman Avenue, Kittery Point, ME, features the work of Seacoast artists and local musicians. We welcome new members and art appreciators of all ages. We also sponsor poetry readings, figure study sessions, and plein air outings plus special interest groups. Gallery hours are 11 – 5 on Saturdays and Sundays, and 2 – 5 on Thursdays.
