Mid and Northern Maine Women’s March Year 2

On Saturday, Jan. 20, to commemorate the second anniversary of the 2017 Women’s March, people of all backgrounds will be uniting across the nation and the world to confirm their belief in a vital world in which every person and our planet is protected. All are welcome.

Mid- and northern Mainers will be congregating at 11 a.m. in Bangor at Peirce Memorial Park next to the Bangor Public Library at 145 Harlow St., to follow a march route ending indoors at the Unitarian Universalist Church at 120 Park St. for an array of women speakers. Present, among others, will be gubernatorial candidates Betsy Sweet and Janet Mills, Bangor City Council member Claire Davitt, Representative Barbara Cardone of Bangor, Samantha Paradis, mayor of Belfast, Penobscot Indian National Tribal Ambassador Maulian Dana, Ambureen Rana, vice president of MaineTransNet, Angel Shaw of Rape Response Services, Olivia Baldacci of the Eastern Maine Peace & Justice Center, and Stacy Leafsong of the Maine Common Good Coalition.

The march is hosted by the Maine Common Good Coalition and co-sponsored by the Women’s March on Washington National, Women’s March on Washington Maine Chapter, Maine Democratic Party, Maine People’s Alliance, Peace and Justice Center, Suit Up Maine, Indivisible Bangor, Osier Environment Systems, Maine Interfaith Power & Light, Bangor Racial and Economic Justice, Food and Medicine, and Mainers For Accountable Leadership.

All are welcome! Bring your signs, banners, buttons, hats, musical instruments, and inspiration.
