Opening Reception for the “Rock ‘n’ Wave” Art Show

The Kefauver Studio & Gallery, Damariscotta, presents the opening reception for the “Rock ‘n’ Wave” art show. This is the third show of the 2018 season at the Gallery. The show opens on August 10th and runs until September 9th. The reception will be held on Saturday, August 11th, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Many of the guest artists will be present to meet visitors and discuss their work.

The show features new work by oil painter Will Kefauver, and the work of his 35 guest artists, and includes images of Maine’s iconic rugged coastline.

This show has drawn the largest number of new artists to the gallery to-date, 11 artists, from around the state and “away”. The new artists are sculptor Dave Maher; photographers Sandy Adams and Jennifer Hickey; oil painters, Tricia Granzier, Sandy Harper, and Polly McGrory; acrylic painters Nicole Karr and Julie Waterman; watercolorist Mark Kuehn; watercolorist and encaustic painter Andrea Timm; and collage artist Lucinda Talbot.

The returning guest artists are photographers Steve Dunn and Carl Root; oil painters George Baker, Marcia Brandwein, Sandra Dunn, Chris Essler, Lisa Kyle, Sally Loughridge, Brooke Pacy, Polly Steadman, and Helen Warner; acrylic painters Wolfgang Busse, Dale Dapkins, Hannah Ineson, DiTa Ondek, and Gail Wartell; printmaker Deborah Kozak; acrylic painter and sculptor Marnie Sinclair; acrylic painter and watercolorist Linda Van Tassell; watercolorists Jane Bowman, Jan Kilburn, Kathy Lane, and Cindy Spencer; and pastel artist Barbara Vanderbilt.

Kefauver says, “It’s always a pleasure to see the entries come in for the Rock ‘n’ Wave show, but this year we’ve had an outstanding turnout — many new artists and old friends — making this the biggest show we’ve done to-date. We’ll have over 55 new works celebrating our wonderful shoreline.

“Crashing surf, quiet inlets, majestic cliffs running into the sea, or the peaceful lapping of waves against the pilings of a dock — so much of what we love about Maine happens where water meets land. And so many of our talented artists and photographers took on the opportunity to share this beauty through their work.“

Refreshments will be served at the reception, and there is free parking.

The Kefauver Studio & Gallery is located at 144 Bristol Road, Damariscotta, and is open from 10:00 – 6:30 daily. Will Kefauver can be reached at 207-226-0974,, or
