Seanachie Nights-Celtic tales

Seanachie Nights presents:
Celtic Tales with Peaks Island Storyteller Bill Hinderer

Seanachie Nights, a monthly series of spoken word/musical performances from Celtic and British culture, presents Peaks Island storyteller Bill Hinderer, with stories and songs of Scotland, Ireland, and other Celtic tales.

Bill and his kilt (depending on the wind chill factor) will tell Celtic stories, including “Knockmany Hill”: a fanciful 19th century Irish folktale in which Fionn Maccumhaill meets Cuchullain. In his previous appearance at Seanachie Nights Bill told, “The Ghost of Inverare”, “The Thin Red Line”, and “The True Story of Washington Crossing the Delaware”.

The Regulars (Janet Lynch, Lynne Cullen, and Kurt Kish) will join in with traditional music on fiddle, concertina, and ukulele.

Bill is a father, husband, professional cook, veteran, and storyteller who was raised in a family full of tales, mostly of family members’ misadventures that were told and retold until no one could remember exactly who had what part in any of the stories.
Bill’s stories take the listener from the coast of Maine to the battlefields of Vietnam and back. His stories are filled with joy and sorrow, laughter and tears, with a few surprises along the way.
Bill does not have a computer, so if you would like to contact him to arrange a performance please call him at 207-766-2636.
Seanachie Nights is the creation of local (seanachie) storyteller, artist and playwright Lynne Cullen.
