Smoked Chicken Seminar – Falmouth

The technique, nutrition and safe preparation of smoked whole chicken will be the focus of a seminar set for 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, at University of Maine Regional Learning Center, 75 Clearwater Dr, Suite 104, Falmouth, ME 04105.

The seminar will be presented by two University of Maine Cooperative Extension experts. UMaine Extension livestock specialist Colt Knight will demonstrate how to prepare whole and quartered chicken for barbecuing using a charcoal smoker. Kathy Savoie, a registered dietician and Extension educator for nutrition and food safety, will discuss safety and hygiene related to handling raw and cooked chicken.

This seminar is designed for anyone interested in learning more about food safety and the smoking process. Participants will receive smoked chicken samples and a thermometer for ensuring food safety. The cost is $10 per person.
