The Pavement Artist-a full-length play

The Pavement Artist, a full-length play written by Portland playwright Lynne Cullen, opens the 27th season of Players’ Ring Theatre of Portsmouth, NH.

The Pavement Artist tells a story of love, war, and the power of art.
It began on the first day of summer in 1993, in a medium-sized American city. Nobody saw the pavement artist carry his tools into the parking lot of Burke Publishing. Nobody saw Saylor unpack his box of colored chalks and begin to work. He had been working on the mural for a long time; at last he was ready to finish it. Saylor had something to say to the owner of Burke Publishing, and this was the only way he knew how. One summer, one mural, will change everything.

Lynne Cullen began writing plays after taking a workshop at Acorn Productions, a Portland-based theater company whose goal is to promote and nurture actors, writers, directors, and practitioners of the dramatic arts.

Gullinbursti Productions was formed by Lynne Cullen in 2016 for the purpose of producing her plays. In Norse mythology, Gullinbursti was a flying boar with golden bristles that shone in the dark – a good metaphor for the theater experience.
